Wish ListSince we are a non-profit racing team, we're always looking for donations of items to help us keep up our racing efforts. Below you'll find a list of items that we could use to make racing easier. For information on where to send donations, please email us. For the dogs:- Dry dog food (we currently feed the Kirkland Signature chicken, rice and vegetable adult dog formula, available at Costco. If you are not a Costco member and would like to donate towards dog food, monetary donations are welcome and can be made through Paypal).- Dog beds (sized L-XL / pillow-style / with a zip-off cover for washing) - Veterinary care (please email info@racingrescues.com for more information on how to donate). Since we keep adopting puppies, they require 3 sets of puppy vaccines plus spay / neuter surgeries, in addition to routine medical care. We proudly support rescue and spay / neuter programs for pets! ![]() - Durable dog toys for power chewers. (Appropriately sized for large breeds). Kong toys are durable enough to withstand our chewers! So are rope toys, Nylabone products and GoughNuts. - Dog treats (large smoked bones, which really aid in dental care, or biscuits.. our dogs love Milkbones and Dentabones - please, no rawhides or Greenies) - 1000 denier cordura dog booties from Paws-e-Trax Dogsleds & Racing Kennel. These help protect our racers paws. - Vetrap Bandaging Tape from 3M. Can be used to wrap and protect dewclaws underneath booties, but also has a million other uses. Can be found at many pet stores and horse supply stores. - A kids wading pool (rigid plastic, of course - not inflatable!). These are perfect for our dogs to cool off in after training during the warmer months. - ZinPro helps toughen up a dogs foot pads for racing. AKKO sells this in either a 450gm pouch or a 2.5kg bucket. For the mushers:- Merino wool or mohair socks (for ladies)- Warm and / or waterproof winter gloves and mitts (we go through a lot!). Sizes Youth L / XL or Ladies S. - Headlamps (to keep our hands free for handling dogs, of course!). The brighter, the better. Equipment to keep us going:- Pre-paid gas cards (we use quite a bit of gas to go to these events)- Gift certificates for Canadian Tire, Mark's Work Warehouse, Algonquin Outfitters or Robinson's General Store. - Both the Black and Yellow Quick Change Runner (QCR) plastic would come in very handy. The Komatik Outfitters website has them listed. I need the 1 1/2" width. (UH-4000 is yellow plastic which is harder, very durable and glides well at all temperatures. XH is black plastic which is softer and less durable, but glides better at temperatures below 10F). - Ski wax for our sled runners (universal hot wax for use in a variety of snow conditions) Toko wax is available at Canadian Tire stores. - Snow hooks (both the Basic Snowhook and the Grabber Snowhook from Komatik) - Snowhook holders. The deluxe version from Komatik (that includes hardware) would be perfect! - Drag brake / mat - Sprint sled - as Maria and Gail will be racing in the same classes in a few short years, we will need another light sled suitable for racing a 4-dog team. If anyone has one they'd be willing to donate that would be fantastic, or monetary donations to the "sled fund" would also be greatly appreciated. Also needed for this sled are ganglines (for 4 dogs), snowhook, snowhook holder and sled bags. - ATV for spring and fall training. Now that we have more dogs, an ATV would come in very handy for doing training runs with all the dogs at one time. While our dryland rig is a great training tool for up to 4 dogs, it is too lightweight to be able to safely hook up a larger team. If anyone has an ATV they no longer need, that would be perfect. Cash or Credit Card Donations:If you would like to help us out by making a cash or credit card donation please click here to go to our donation page. All donations are used to buy supplies and equipment for our team. |
